The DEATH NOTE feature film will screen as a special event in approximately 60 Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatres locations across Canada on Monday, September 15 at 9:00pm local time. A special DVD advance ticket bundle has also been announced that goes on-sale August 29th. The bundle will include a ticket to the theatrical screening as well as the DVD of the live action film (the DVD can also be purchased separately on-site immediately after the screening). DEATH NOTE is based on the hit supernatural action mystery manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The live-action film was released in Japan in 2006 and mirrors the mangaÕs story of Light Yagami, an ace student with great prospects who is bored out of his mind. All of that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god named Ryuk. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals mysteriously begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to investigate, and he is soon hot on the trail of Light, who must now reevaluate his one noble goal. Both Light and L believe themselves to be on the side of justice, and the two match wits trying to show exactly which of them is "good" and which of them is "evil."

Press Release: Introducing G-Girl! (08.18)

Her name is Billi Jayne "BeeJay" Jensen. And she's just a couple of weeks short of turning all of fifteen! But with the League of Champions off on a secret mission, and the abominable OGRE on the loose, it's up to the sensational G-GIRL to skip on out to battle, and help the brave officers of the San Francisco Police Department take that monstrous bad guy down.
"Here Comes G-Girl" is scheduled to appear as a complete eighteen-page adventure, fashioned for your entertainment by FLARE's regular creative team of Dennis Mallonee and Mark Beachum, and featuring a special guest appearance by G-Girl's mom, that scarlet-tressed avenger of injustice, the awesomely endowed NEMESIS GIRL.
THE SENSATIONAL G-GIRL will follow the adventures of Billi Jayne "BeeJay" Jensen, a teenaged girl with special powers, who's intent on going into the family business of being a superhero. But she does have a few problems with it, because for one thing she's not sure she actually wants to wear that skimpy spandex outfit her cousin Andrea designed for her. And on top of that, for reasons you'll learn when the first issue appears, she's really not comfortable with the idea of being suddenly so attractive to boys.
As artist Mark Beachum explains, G-Girl isn't going to display very much of the direct sexiness that's sometimes seen in FLARE. Rather, G-Girl is meant to be much more playfully coy, adolescent coming-of-age adventure with touches of tongue-in-cheek cheesecake that hearken back to girl pin ups of the 40's. And writer Dennis Mallonee, makes a point of emphasizing that quite a few of G-Girl's adventures will have nothing to do with superheroics. G-Girl is not only a superhero, she's a high school student. And as such, she's going to have to deal with many of the same kinds of situations you might see Archie's Betty or Veronica getting into.
THE SENSATIONAL G-GIRL is going to provide superhero action with a unique twist you will not expect and cannot miss! Mark Beachum's work continues to bedazzle and provoke by pushing the edge as only he can, and Dennis Malonee's newest creation will keep you both entertained and astonished!
Also in the first issue of THE SENSATIONAL G-GIRL, from out of the distant past, revealed at last in an all-new adventure by Dennis Mallonee and Denny Fincke, you'll learn the fearsome "Fate of the DemonMaster." Long-time fans of the world of FLARE and the LEAGUE OF CHAMPIONS will recall that long ago, during events described in the original CHAMPIONS mini-series, "The Curse of the Hellfire Crown," FLARE's younger brother Philip, the notorious DEMONMASTER, was killed.

While Cooke and Allred have worked together on various projects such as CATWOMAN and THE X-STATIX, this will mark the very first time Darwyn and collaberator J. Bone have delved into a full story featuring Snap City's number one superhero. Their short, "Madman: The Movie," takes Frank Einstein and company down the treacherous road to Hollywood as a film studio intends to loosely adapt Frank's life story with some very strange results.
MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #14, a 32-page full color comic book for $3.50, will be in-stores November 19th, 2008. In addition, Allred fans can meet the creator himself mere weeks before the issue's release on October 4th at San Francisco's Neon Monster.

Coming this August from IDW Publishing, Fubear is a nice, small, square hardcover collection of the illustrations which served as inspiration for the animated comic/horror short "Meatdog: What’s Fer Dinner”, a short film that premiered at Comic Con in July 2008 and will play to the over seven million users of Xbox LIVE this fall.
David Slade, the man behind the bear—Fubear Studios that is— is a motion picture director best known for his 2005 thriller and cult hit Hard Candy, as well as the 2007 movie adaptation of the IDW graphic novel 30 Days of Night, which opened at No. 1 at the box office. Slade, who originally trained in fine arts in his hometown of Sheffield, England, works not only in film and animation, but is also known as a brilliant graphic artist.
“Making films, dark thrillers, sometimes you need some light, but it has to be sincere,” says creator David Slade, “so I set off in search of my psyche in just my underwear, taking with me a handgun, a crutch, a pencil, and a shovel. In the end they all came to play, but mostly just the pencil. The pencil became a computer and various printing techniques, and that most recently became animation. I love learning craft and technique, and I delve into my psyche to get the meat.”
Fubear Studios brings a collection of Slade’s characters to life with his vivid illustration style.
